Story HighlightsCoinDCX denied reports of a suspected $16 million breach, describing the claims as a false alarm involving old wallet addresses.
Reported transfers included 15.99 million USDT and 5,784 TRX, but the movements don't establish that a new hack occurred.
The exchange says current wallet checks found no compromised funds and that its team is investigating.
CoinDCX hack rumors spread quickly after suspicious blockchain transfers triggered speculation about another major security breach at the Indian crypto exchange. But there’s a problem with the alarming headlines: CoinDCX’s co-founder says its wallets weren’t breached, calling the reports a false alarm. For now, the alleged $16 million incident remains unconfirmed, and the exchange is pushing back.
Suspicious Transfers Spark Fresh CoinDCX Hack Fears
The speculation followed reports of approximately 15.99 million USDT and 5,784 TRX moving on October 21. One transfer reportedly involved 15.82 million USDT, with funds subsequently split and routed toward deposit addresses at Binance, OKX and Gate.
On-chain investigator Darcy reportedly linked the transfers to addresses associated with CoinDCX. That connection raised concerns because the exchange previously suffered a roughly $44 million hack in July 2025. Still, blockchain transfers alone don’t prove a new breach occurred.
CoinDCX Says Old Wallets Caused Confusion
CoinDCX’s co-founder disputed the allegations, saying the addresses flagged by Arkham belonged to the exchange before the July 2025 incident. According to the explanation, those addresses were generated in January 2025 and compromised during the earlier hack.
The co-founder added that attackers appeared to be reusing old wallet addresses. CoinDCX says it checked its current central and user addresses and found no funds sent to the addresses now under scrutiny.
CZ’s Security Warning Adds Another Layer
Amid the discussion, Binance founder CZ posted a reminder that no crypto wallet or software is completely secure. His message emphasized managing risks, staying updated and preparing to solve problems rather than assuming technology is flawless.
The post fits the broader security debate, but it doesn’t independently confirm a CoinDCX breach.
