The global cryptocurrency market is trading with heavy caution ahead of a busy week of economic events. Investors are now watching U.S. inflation data (CPI), the oil market report, and a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh for clues about the Fed’s next move.
Bitcoin has recovered to around $84,000, while the total crypto market cap has risen 1.4% in the past 24 hours to $2.91 trillion.
Key Economic Events For This Week
These are the major events investors will watch for clues about the next move in crypto, stocks, and global markets.
October 13 – OPEC Monthly Report
The first key event arrives on Tuesday, October 13, when the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) releases its monthly oil market report. OPEC has cut its 2026 global oil demand growth forecast to 400,000 barrels per day, down from an earlier projection of 1.4 million barrels per day.
However, tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain a concern as attacks on ships continue and threats to energy infrastructure in the Middle East rise.
These concerns have pushed Brent crude oil prices above $105 per barrel, raising inflation fears and putting pressure on Bitcoin and other crypto assets.
October 14 – U.S. CPI Data
Markets will focus on the release of September Consumer Price Index (CPI) data on Wednesday. Economists expect inflation to rise to 3.7% year-over-year from 3.4% in August.
Core CPI is projected to remain at 2.5% year-over-year, while monthly core inflation is expected to ease to 0.2%.
If core inflation comes in below expectations, markets may see less pressure for further Fed rate hikes, potentially supporting Bitcoin and Ethereum.
October 15 – PPI Inflation and Jobless Claims Data
Thursday brings two important U.S. economic releases, first, September Producer Price Index (PPI) data, and second, weekly initial jobless claims.
PPI inflation data is expected to rise 0.9% month-over-month, while core PPI is forecast to increase 0.4%. In August, final-demand PPI rose 0.4% month-over-month and 5.4% year-over-year.
Meanwhile, initial jobless claims are expected to reach around 202,000, slightly above the previous reading of 197,000. A higher jobless claims could signal a weaker U.S. economy and affect Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
