While the controversial cryptocurrency project has introduced multiple ecosystem developments so far this year, the team has not yet confirmed one of its most significant advancements.
All eyes are now on the first-ever Pi Ecosystem Summit, scheduled for next month, which is expected to bring major platform updates and direct discussions between developers and the Core Team. Meanwhile, PI has surprisingly defied the latest market correction, posting a 3% daily increase.
Confirmed and Unconfirmed Developments
The protocol update process has been a main mission for Pi Network’s team so far in 2026. It began with the implementation of version 19.6, followed by v20.2 (which laid the foundation for smart contract capabilities), and several more.
The latest one set to deploy was protocol v28, scheduled to arrive on October 16. The team has remained silent on the matter, yet some X users, including Kim H Wang, said:
“After upgrading to version 28 protocol on October 17, Pi Network has the core blockchain infrastructure needed to support smart contract and public decentralized applications (dApps). Pi Network is ready for public dApp deployment.”
Beyond the protocol upgrades, Pi Network has made progress in other areas. Earlier this month, it announced the launch of Pi Desktop version 0.6.4, targeting remote access to SoloHost applications. Prior to that, Pioneers who wanted to access locally hosted applications on their phones had to change their home routers and configure network settings. The new version removes that technical hurdle and simplifies the process.
Pi Network has also dipped its toes in the stablecoin sector. At the start of the month, it teamed up with Open Standard (the company behind the newly launched stablecoin). The partnership could eventually introduce OUSD-based rewards and additional utility to Pi Network’s ecosystem.
The Upcoming Summit and More
The team recently unveiled that it will host its first online Ecosystem Summit. The event, set for November 17-19, will feature new platform announcements, developer demos, existing dApp showcases, details on another hackathon, and involve discussions between devs and the Core Team.
Another interesting development for the project is the interaction with Axis Robotics. The Spanish account of the tech company supposedly said that Pi Network is “more than just an investor,” revealing that it is exploring “a technical integration” between itself and Pi Network.
“The integration, it says in the translated post, will focus on the scaling of physical AI,” X account BSCN stated.
PI Price Outlook
The crypto project’s native token has rebounded 3% over the past 24 hours, rising to nearly $0.08. This is surprising given the token’s overall decline over the past months and the recent market pullback.
