Story HighlightsInjective launched SICI, an onchain index tracking five NVIDIA GPU rental rates.
SICI perpetual contracts offer exposure to AI compute pricing with up to 10x leverage.
The index could expand onchain AI finance, but sustained demand and liquidity remain unproven.
Injective is betting that AI’s next financial opportunity isn’t just the companies building it. It’s the cost of running it. The blockchain has officially launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), giving traders exposure to NVIDIA GPU rental prices through perpetual contracts with up to 10x leverage.
Injective Brings AI Compute Prices Onchain
The new SICI index combines five NVIDIA GPU rental rates into a single onchain benchmark. Its launch targets a market that’s becoming increasingly important as demand for AI training, inference, and autonomous agents grows.
The index weights H100 GPUs at 40%, B200 at 25%, H200 at 15%, A100 at 10%, and RTX 4090 at 10%. Together, these components track rental pricing across different hardware generations and computing workloads.
Instead of treating compute as merely an operating expense, Injective is turning its pricing into something traders can access through financial markets. Whether demand for that exposure develops remains to be seen.
Why NVIDIA GPU Rental Prices Matter Now
AI infrastructure investment is expanding, while rental prices remain fragmented across cloud providers and hardware types. SICI aims to bring those prices together using hourly data from compute marketplaces.
The launch also extends Injective’s existing push into AI-related markets. The network previously introduced an onchain H100 rental market, launched the AIX index, and offered pre-IPO perpetuals tied to companies including OpenAI, SpaceX, and Anthropic.
Now the focus shifts from AI companies themselves to the infrastructure powering them.
Can SICI Build a Sustainable Trading Market?
Injective says a new financial primitive for accessing SICI is also planned for the coming days. For now, perpetual contracts offer exposure with leverage of up to 10x, which can amplify losses as well as gains.
The bigger question is whether traders will consistently use these products as AI infrastructure demand evolves. SICI creates a new way to trade GPU rental economics, but a novel index alone doesn’t guarantee lasting liquidity.
Injective’s SICI launch brings AI compute pricing into onchain finance. Its next challenge is proving that this emerging market can attract sustained trading activity.
