Ripple has won Best Initiative in Financial Inclusion at the PAY360 Awards 2026, the payments industry event’s 20th edition. The award recognises a pilot Ripple ran with Prosper Global Ventures, DIVA Protocol and Fortune Credit Ltd that used its RLUSD stablecoin to support farming communities in Kenya. The programme combined satellite data with smart contracts to detect drought conditions and send RLUSD payouts to affected farmers automatically, without the need for manual claims or lengthy approval processes. Ripple’s dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin launched in December 2024 and is used in the company’s cross-border payments business. The pilot is one of the first documented uses of RLUSD for climate-linked aid distribution in Africa.
